As you know, I'm passionate about health and fitnessand find it very difficult to 'sit on my hands' when there's a job to be done!
Having fallen in love with Botswana this year (thanks, lovely brother, for the introduction!), I was disturbed to hear of the high HIV/AIDS infection rate in this young, developing country - with an infection rate of 25% in Botswana and a population of just 1.85 million, it doesn't take much to understand how devasting this could be to an entire population.
Despite my being fairly incapable of catching or throwing a ball, Cricket Without Boundaries have kindly decided that I might still be of some use, so are sending me off to Botswana in April 2012 to help bring the game to children across the country, as well as delivering an AIDS prevention message.
Cricket Without Boundaries does a fantastic job in both developing the game of cricket in East Africa, but also delivering an AIDS prevention message to a young audience in a fun and effective way.
By donating my time and fundraising to this amazing charity and the fabulous country and people of Botswana, maybe I can make a tiny difference. Lots of tiny efforts add up to one big change and I'd be really grateful if you could spread the word as far and wide as possible!
If you'd also like to sponsor my small effort, that would be fantastic!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you so much!
Gratefully, Sam
